I'm working on a MacBookPro and using Microsoft Office and Business Word. How can I make the type on my screen darker?

I can hardly see the type on my Mac screen. I've tried using a larger font, but that doesn't make it easier to see. I've tried using Bold, but that isn't what I'm after. I've used Word for many years, and the type was always nice and dark and easy to read. But since buying Office 2021 the type on my page looks more grey than black. How can I make it darker and easier to read and work with. I'm a writer and making the type really large doesn't help me. I want to work in Courier 12. But I can barely read the type.I have a MAC COMPUTER.Please help! I'm on a deadline.Thanks, Shirley
