If I go from a local account and sign into my Microsoft account, will I be required to sign in each time?

If I go from a local account and sign into my Microsoft account, will I be required to sign in each time? One of the features I like of a local account is the ability to not sign in when it's appropriate (i.e. home). It just saves time and is less tedious. If you can, can you toggle it on and off when appropriate. I do like the find my device feature and other features. But don't like mandatory signing in password, key, facetime, or anything else.
