If I factory reset my pc will it remove everything on the account as well as pc?

I just got a hand me down pc from my stepdad and all of his stuff is on it. I’ve looked up if a factory reset will remove his accounts from the system (I’ve already tried to remove them from the account section of the settings but there’s nothing that says remove account from his accounts) and they will remove the accounts. however, I do not want to remove the stuff that’s on his account or delete his account I just want his account removed from the pc so I can just have only my account on there. Is it safe to factory reset and nothing happen to his account on his current pc?
