I purchased a new HpLaptop yesterday and cannot add Microsoft account, it keeps saying opps something went wrong

I purchased a HP laptop yesterday and followed the startup instructions until it asked to add Microsoft Account. I folles instructions and got a window which says opps, something went wrong. When i hit the next button it takes me back to who is going to use this device etc and go through the process again with the same negative result
