I have a nasty time with thumbnails coming and going!!??!

I have a Dell Optiplex 3050. SSDIt's been ongoing since I got it (refurb from Amazon) that the thumbnails keep disappearing for the icons. I have tried using different programs to see if maybe it was Irfanview's issue. But it still seems to misbehave. I have gone into the Registry and changed the MaxIconsCache to a greater number. I have used Windows Clean Disk. I have used settings to make sure it uses thumbnails and not icons. I have gone into View Advanced System Settings to make sure several checks are there. It's purely a stressor as I have to look at lots of files at a glance to pick and
