I got a new monitor and now windows thinks my headset is a speaker and won't recognize the mic on my headset

It just won't show up at all, every bit of advice i've seen is if it shows up but doesn't work, but telling me to edit my headset in realtek is not helpful when it tells me that I have a speaker plugged in despite me using the split thing for them to go into the input and output jack.
