I can't install Visual C++ Redistributable

I have a new NB and I can't install Visual C++ Redistributable. I downloaded the x86 and x64 versions and both stop about a third of the way through the installation.I uninstalled using the troubleshooter tool to install and uninstall the previous version. I used sfc scannow, the result was fine.
