I can't get past the Microsoft login page on my new computer...

When I start up my son's new computer, I enter his outlook address on the Sign In prompt and click Next. After that, I enter his outlook password in the Enter Password Prompt and click Sign In. It appears to be successful, but then it just takes me to the screen that shows the time and date. I wait and nothing further happens. Then I click a button, or the mouse pad or (or swipe up on the touchscreen) and it takes me back to the screen that shows his name with a prompt to sign in.
