I can discover the remote PC on my home network, but the system thinks my network credentials (username & PW) are incorrect.

I can discover a remote PC on my home network and want to share program files. When prompted to enter network credentials username & PW the system thinks they are incorrect, I've tried to toggle between a couple different options in advanced sharing settings but still a no go. Any ideas are better than mine-ha. Thanks!
