I wanted to say that I have used windows vista to encrypt drives (Vista doesn’t have the full Bitlocker to go capabilities) as it can only open Bitlocker volumes with FAT32 file system. NTFS won’t work. I have also used windows 7s Bitlocker tool to encrypt drives and I have had no issues with them. One thing I noticed is that Bitlocker takes a long time to encrypt and even longer if you’re encrypting large drives. It took me nearly three days to encrypt a game drive with 8TB.
