Hyper-V host can't communicate with its guests

Hi - I've configured Hyper-V on a Windows Server 2022 Standard system (the 'host'). I've create a Windows guest and a SLES 15 guest. The host and both of the guests can access the Internet. Both guests can access each other. But the guests can not access/ping the host, and the host can not ping the guests. Both guests are configured to use the default Hyper-V virtual switch, which is an 'external' switch. The host and guest systems are not running a firewall.None of the Hyper-V documentation that I've found describe this issue. I've done some Google'ing, and find many references to this issue
