Hello everyone,

Recently I accidentally upgraded my HP Envy 14 from Windows 7 to Windows 10 and let the month go by without switching back. Due to a host of other problems that arose, I decided I wanted Windows 7 back, so I took out my old Windows 7 recovery disks to reinstall Windows 7.

It successfully reformats the hard disk and everything seems to go well until the very end of the installation, when it suddenly shuts itself off and restarts. It'll then get as far as the "starting windows" screen before it restarts again, each time giving the "Windows did not shut down successfully" screen, so it's not just part of the installation process. It's stuck in this reboot loop.

Any advice?

Couple observations:

I created a startup repair disk and ran startup repair, but it reported finding no problems. Okay.

When trying to start the computer in safe mode, I get to the "Windows is setting up your computer for first time use" screen and then am informed that Windows can't complete the installation in safe mode. It doesn't get that far in normal mode, however.

The battery is burnt out as well- can Windows install on a computer that fails the battery test? I don't see how it would have any relation but I'm really running out of ideas.

Thanks for any help/insight you have!
