HP Pavilion Laptop randomly went into Bitlock mode and now won't start sometimes

My laptop died while I was using it in class today. I immediately plugged it in and tried to start it. When it turned back on, it was in bitlock mode and required a recovery key. When I input the correct key, it would pull up a black loading screen and say some variation of "running diagnostics", "automatic repair attempted" or "updating", before ultimately returning to the bitlock screen. I put the code in about 4 times before I got frustrated, shut my laptop, and walked away for about an hour. When I opened it up later, I was past the bitlock screen and able to log in and use it as normal. H
