I am sure this question has been solved a few times, nevertheless I could not find a solution to this one.
I was reinstalling a HP LasetJet 6P on a windows 7 pro (x64) pc via usb-parallel cable.
The drivers had been deleted beforehead, but before all of that, the printer was doing just fine. (cable broke down)
I pluged the printer to my pc, it has been recognised, it has reported being ready to print.
It printed a PRINTER BUILT-IN test page (no computer required for it) flawlessly
here's the fun part.
Whenever I try to print anything from the pc, the printer spits out random characters, mostly one line, sometimes whole blank pages.
I fould out that fiddling with advanced settings in printer properties makes a difference in what kind of crap is printed (usually reducing it to blank pages)
Could you please tell me what am I doing wrong?
I cannot install any kind of JetDirect, I am stuck with the adaptor
I tried:
•Turning everything off and on again
•Reinstalling printer drivers
•Fiddling with printing processor settings
•Changing driver to variety of others LaseJets (3xxx PLC5/6)
•Talking to a printer
