I have an HP laserjet 3030 all in one that worked great but the connector broke so I bought a USB2.00 to parallel printer cable toconnect it to my laptop (I use windows 7 . It only prints weird characters! Please help.

Shall I change some settings? I still have the original disk. I hope it's not a lost cause!?
