How to wipe old hard drive

I got a new SSD to complement my old HDD. To migrate my disk I used a software called "DiskGenius" and it has successfully migrated my OS.Everything was going great until I tried to wipe my old hard drive by formatting it, but windows for some reason still recognizes my HDD as my main drive and refuses to format it. I even made sure the boot options were right in my BIOS. Does anyone have a solution to this?
