How to turn backup hard drive to offline

I just got a new HP with windows 11. I plugged my backup hard drive into USB to transfer my stuff onto the new computer. Now I cannot eject because it says the item is still in use. The instructions I found says to go to disk management and right click on device to turn offline. Only I do not get the option to turn it offline. So how to I get the computer to let me eject?
