how to transfer a retail windows license to a vm if i don't know the key?

i have a problem with windows 11 and i want to just use it in a VM.when i bought the laptop it came with an activated windows 11, and when i checked using slmgr -dli , i noticed that it's a retail license.is there a way to transfer this license to the VM?i used wmic path softwarelicensingservice get OA3xOriginalProductKey to copy the key, but when i tried using it inside the VM i am getting an error 0x803f7001so do i need to remove the activation from the main machine before using it in VM? and how do i do that?
