How to restore desktop image that disappeared February 2025

I was using the same image on the lock screen and desktop. The desktop image has disappeared. I personalized the lock screen. I chose a photo. I then turned on (and off, and on) show the lock screen background picture on the sign-in screen. I also right-clicked on the desktop, selected personalize, changed the background color, and checked that the image I wanted was still on the Lock Screen by selecting Lock Screen under personalize. It is. Photo I selected is no longer on desktop. I tried several different images. All I get are my icons on the desktop as usual, but no photo.
