How to repair Windows Installer?

I have been experiencing issues installing a Java Development Kit on my computer. After downloading the file and right-clicking to run it, I briefly see the message "Preparing to install," but then the installer closes immediately. I encountered a similar problem when trying to install an application I created in Visual Studio using .NET 9. I'm unsure why my Windows Installer is not functioning correctly. Please help if you can.
