how to remove try another verification method on my phone number

My account has been locked for some reason; they say it's suspicious activity, and it asks me to verify with a code. The only verification method I have is my phone number, and when I try to send the code, it says try another verification method, even though it's the only one I had. I tried the account recovery form, but for some reason, Microsoft does not believe that this is my account.
