How to remove PlugX virus?

I purchased a rack adapter to turn my ssd to an external hard drive, it was unbranded and I ran the shortcut when i couldnt find the files and that activated the whole thing, anyways i got malwarebytes it deleted al trace of it from my computer, but the external drive still has the shortcut, malwarebytes says nothing is wrong with the external drive itself, so could this be something with the chip on the adapter, would getting a good branded one fix this?
