How to reinstall windows 10 without losing data??

my pc had a problem where the screen is blank and theres a blinking underscore on the top left corner, i thought its temporary until i learnt its a bigger problem, they say to reinstall windows 10 so i tried with a bootable usb, but the upgrade option is not available because it needs windows 10 previously which i had so idk why its not available, the other option is custom install but it deletes files and i have a ton of important files that i DO NOT want it to ever be erased, afterwards i tried to backup files by following a video that says to open notepad using cmd prompt and click file -&g
