How to reactivate a Windows license key?

So recently I activated an old PC with a new windows product key purchased from a shop. After a day, the PC isn't working. So with my laptop, I go online and deleted the computer profile that was activated with the windows key. Now I bought a new motherboard and cpu and trying to re-activate with the same new windows key purchased a week ago, it didn't work and said it's already activated with another device. What can I do? Thanks!
