How to make windows open on the screen i open them on?

I know the title sounds a bit confusing but I'll try to be a bit more clear. When i open something on my desktop/task bar on my 2nd monitor (say for example my file directory) it always opens on my main monitor instead of the 2nd monitor.Is there a way to change this? It's not a massive issue, it just gets a bit grating when I'm trying to do things with multiple windows open and i have to keep manually dragging everything over and over again even though I'm opening it on my 2nd monitor.Many thanks for any advice.
