How to get my system to recognize an application as a game?

I've been playing a game and wanted to tweak with the graphics but for some reason neither windows nor my Adrenalin will recognize it as a game. I had to manually add it to the game graphics section in windows setting and AMD adrenalin simply wont let me add it to the game section. I've updated windows, updated my driver, and looked at the game's information to make sure it's an exe file but nothing seems to work and I can't really find anything that will help me and I'm thinking that since windows wont recognize the game then it's making adrenalin not recognize it either.
