How to fix freezing screen

Im having troubles with my gaming laptop, anytime i have it on anything besides fortnite it runs smoothly, until it gets to specifcally fortnite then the whole laptop completely gets broken, id never had this trouble before probably 2 days ago. Anytime i launch fortnite i either get stuck on it and cant go onto anything else or i can get out but cannot open any other apps anymore. If i try exiting out of it then itd just freeze my whole laptop and I cant press shutdown, i have to force shutdown with the button.I have also tried uninstalling the app and reinstalling the next day but it didnt he
