How to downgrade or upgrade windows on my NEC LAVIE PC-LS350C, after changing the HDD?

I changed my HDD on my old NEC PC-LS350/C laptop, and it had a windows 10 pro installation on it, but doesn’t seem to be compatible with my laptop for some reason…… so I needed to know if it was better to go back to windows 7, or 8 or reinstall the windows 10 pro , and most importantly, how to achieve the result intended (it hurts to see an ‘activate windows’ inscription on my laptop screen each time I turn it on)?
