How to bring metadata over with files when migrating from PC to Mac

I have been working with Apple senior tech service to migrate my files from my PC windows 10 to an iMac. We have migrated twice. Both times the files migrated, but they did not include the dates the files were created/modified. All files have the date of migration as the "date Modified" date. Also, the "Spotlight Search" feature cannot find any document. I migrated with the VPN off. Is there something I need to do on the PC to allow the metadata to transfer with the file?
