How to add external hard drive to full scan and two of the same external hard drives?

Hey everyone I just wanted to ask how to add my external hard drive to my windows defender full scans? Let me preface this by saying that I’m not very tech savvy so please be patient with me. The website below indicates how I can do it but I wanted to get other people’s opinions just in case this method is outdated or simply not true. And as a little side not I have two of the same external drives listed in my folders. What do I do about this? And will it affect adding my external hard drive to future full scans?
