How do I use the java(tm) platform se binary to Open With for my mods?

I want (when I Click open with and then click java(tm) platform se binary) to install the client. Then when I click open with, I see the Java(tm) platform se binary, but it doesn't work for some reason. I see the cmd prompt for a split second, but then nothing happens. Can someone tell me how to fix this?
