How do I reset the administrator password?

I got a computer which has my dad's old administrator login and I tried wiping the computer to put my own in because I don't have the password and now it won't let me login because the 'user can not be loaded '. I can't reset the computer without his password and I don't know what to do because he wouldn't let me have it
