How do I prevent Windows from pre-downloading updates?

My Surface Pro was incredibly laggy and struggling to even browse the web. While performing a Disk Cleanup, I cleared out 9.7 GB of "update temp files".I have no intention of updating to Windows 11 on that tablet, for a number of reasons. For one, when I tried, it broke the detachable keyboard's functionality.
