How do I make my keyboard not do é when I try to make slash or question mark

When I set up my computer I think I chose a multilingual Canadian keyboard, or something like that, because I wanted the option to do the é as I do type in french occasionally. However I do also need these english keys to work! If I have to choose just one then I will choose for my english keyboard to function. So how do I make that happenÉ (question mark)When I go to language and region in settings my preferred language is just English (canada). I changed that to english (united states) to see what would happen, but it doesnèt change the problem here, only makes it mark my spelling of colour
