How do I get tech support to help me?

I put the information for tech support on the Microsoft Support website as instructed. The first time I got a call back it asked me to press 1, I pressed 1 and nothing happened. I pressed 1 again every time the message said too. I finally hung-up and called back. I finally got through to someone. Then after about a minute the phone went dead. I called back and the same thing happened. I tried again and it would not accept my request because I had already tried too many times. So can someone please tell me how the hell to get tech support. I'm paying for it!!!
