How do I get a recovery key?

I have a hard drive from my broken PC and I need 48 digit recovery key to unlock it. My Microsoft account says - you don't have any BitLocker recovery keys uploaded to your Microsoft account. I even not sure if my email attached to a Microsoft account for my old PC or a new one which is broken. I went to see a computer technician about it and she told me to go to Bitlocker and get 48 digit code to unlock data. What should I do to get it?
