How do I backup an external hard drive to a network drive?

My network drive at my office sometimes goes down and I can't access it until I get an IT person to check it out. I now have an external hard drive so when my network drive goes down, I can still access my files and continue working. How do I back up my external hard drive to the network drive? I don't want to have my documents just stored on my PC hard drive. I want them to back up from the external hard drive that I bought, to the network drive. The network drive does get backed up already.
