How can I unsync OneDrive from My Documents on my laptop?

I've looked at various solutions and none of them work for me.OneDrive is already synced and there is no app where I can click on "settings" as I've seen on some solutions. I've tried installing the app but it just sits there loading.I've also tried clicking on 'Properties' for the Documents folder on my laptop and selecting 'Restore default' under location. However, when I try to apply the change, I get a pop-up box asking if I want to move files to the new location and another message appears telling me "there is a folder in the same location with the same name that can't be redirected".
