How can i tell what's stored on OneDrive and what isn't?

When I click on OneDrive, it prompts me to set up OneDrive and log into it. That means that nothing on my PC is synced or saved to OneDrive, right? If that's not what it means, then how can I tell what files are on OneDrive?I don't want anything to be on OneDrive, by the way. I want everything on my computer to actually be saved directly to my computer. If I ever want to backup files, I'll get my own external harddrive for that, thank you very much.
