How can I stop taskbar item search from reverting to search icon only from search box

Hello,I just started using Windows 11 and it's taking time getting adjusted. I use the left alighted taskbar and full search box to mimic my old windows 10 setup. Problem being after a while of work I will go back to use the search bar and it will be the icon only version again. Does anyone know how to stop this from happening?
