How can I move files back to my local drive permanently and remove them from OneDrive safely?

I want this to end.So, last night, I made the mistake to backup my files using OneDrive without thinking. I recognize that the mistake solely lies on my shoulders but this has still been terribly stressful as my files are now being deleted left and right, and if not for me recovering them from my local recycle bin, they would have been destroyed forever, and there are some important things in those files.
