How can I get my computer to stop freezing when it says "Preparing Automatic Repair" after attempting an update?

My computer set a system update going and I noticed at one point that it was on a red screen saying "restarting". No big deal. I let it do it's business and came back around 30 minutes later and it was frozen on the same screen. So I held the power button and tried restarting it. Now it will try and boot up, it makes it past the bios options of holding F11 or delete to enter bios and then it shows the motherboard logo and underneath it will have the windows loading circles and sometimes it will have "Preparing Automatic Repair" underneath and then it will hard freeze and the circles stop spinn
