How can I get my Brother HL-1100 printer to work?

Windows says the driver for my Brother HL-1100 printer is unavailable. However, when I try to reinstall the driver by running the setup software from the manufacturer website, by the end of the installation process it says that all files are already present on my computer and that's the end of the process. How can I fix this?
