How can I best move my proprietary apps from a windows 10 desktop to new hardware running windows 11?

I am running Windows 10 on a PC whose hardware is not capable of windows 11. Some of my software is proprietary and I don't think windows backup is the solution. I am tempted to clone the drive from my old machine to the drive in the new machine, boot from that now windows 10 drive, and then upgrade to windows 11 in place. Thoughts? Thanks for your help.Ron
