High latency spikes with 0% packet loss?

I recently built my pc and downloaded mw2, I have had it for a couple weeks, but it has been effectively unplayable. there have been some matches with less ping spikes but for most my ping will go to 999 or 500+ every couple second and then stop for a bit, then continue. I bought a new Wi-Fi adapter, and it fixed nothing, I am also on wireless Wi-Fi (if that helps). my packet loss is at 0% most of the time but maybe once or twice has gone to around 7%. Are there any known fixes that someone could help me???
