Help with adding my Android Phone to my Microsoft account online.

I've seen the answers to the questions on how to add my Android Phone to my Microsoft account devices. They're the same answers from the community that Microsoft instructions tell you to do. However, I can't add my Android phone to the Microsoft Devices because when I try to add a new account and pick my Microsoft account it reads that xxx@Gmail already exists. That's because the Microsoft account email address I use for my Microsoft account is the same as the Gmail address I use on my PC and Phone, I think anyway. How can I add my Android Phone to my Microsoft Devices on my online MS page?
