Help! Transferring Users folder to My PC

I want to format my dell laptop but i want to keep my data on it how could i transfer the users folder to my pc?and i don't have an ssd or an hdd to store my datai tried going to "Network and Sharing Center" and going to "Advanced sharing settings" and turn on network discovery and turn on "File and printer sharing" and then going back and then clicking on "Connections" and click "Properties" then enable "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4" and then clicking properties in it then i put the ip address and the dns and then i click ok then close and it tells me "An unexpected condition occurre
