headset microphone stopped working

I am using a Corsair HS50 Pro headset with a language class. It has been working fine until a few days ago and the microphone went inop. I have checked all settings for microphone set up and purchased a new headset to try and correct the issue. Audio works fine just no microphone. I have followed several tutorials on the web but nothing has corrected the issue as of yet.
