Headphones with one jack mic issue

When I plug my headphones into one of the output and input plugs in front of my desktop it will have output (Audio) but no input (microphone). even though when I plug my headphones into my laptop it will work and give me a choice if I want it headset or headphones, my desktop on the other hand doesn't. even though it uses the same Windows 11. Also when I went into sound settings it didn't show my recording microphone on my desktop, but my laptop does. Troubleshoot doesn't show anything for the microphone only audio. I tried plugging in and out, while I checked if it in all the way. I plug it
