Go daddy migration

I am migrating email accounts from Go Daddy to Microsoft 365. I was told to back up the email accounts to pst. files and then delete the Go Daddy essentials plan. Then re-import the email files. After backing up the files and deleting the essentials plan, the email account used to login to microsoft live is effectively non functional and I cannot get in. Not sure what to do now.
